The Local History of Carlow

Carlow town is believed to have been established around the 7th Century. Carlow Castle is one of the most impressive Norman Castle in Ireland, but all that remains today is the two towers. The Battle of Carlow took place in 1798 and there is liberty tree sculpture in Carlow town commemorating the event of 1798 defeat of the united Irishmen.
