Ocean Wave is situated on the N70 from Killorglin and is 1km before the town of Glenbeigh on the left hand side.

The Glenbeigh / Curraheen area

Rossbeigh Beach is a long spit of sand, beach and dunes, about 2km from Glenbeigh village. Accredited with the Blue Flag status the beach is an excellent amenity for:

• swimming
• walking
• canoeing
• surfing
• wide range of watersports

It is also a wonderfully relaxing experience to take a horse ride along the beach.

Golfing

Dooks, a beautiful links course in Co. Kerry set amid the blue waters of Dingle Bay and surrounded by Slieve Mish, the Dingle Mountains and McGillycuddy Reeks. A truly magical location for a stunning golf course.

The golf links is set out on one of the three stretches of sand dunes at the head of Dingle Bay. In the immediate foreground are the sand dune peninsulas of Rossbeigh and Inch and just a few miles away the whitewashed houses of Cromane fishing village provide an eye catching distraction. South eastwards are the famed McGillicuddy Reeks, to the Southwest are the lovely cooms and hills of Glenbeigh. Dooks Golf Links is not as exposed as some Irish courses and features an amazing variety of gorse, heather and wild flowers, the "gentle" wind is never far away and the narrow genuine sandy fairways and well contoured greens offer you a real taste of traditional golf at its very best.

Horse Trekking

Horse enthusiasts are spoiled in Glenbeigh as there is an AIRE approved horse trekking centre located five minutes from the village, near Rossbeigh beach. Burke's Trekking Centre is a friendly, family run, professional trekking centre which caters for riders of all levels of ability. Its' prime location at the shore of the Atlantic Ocean and surrounded by the Glenbeigh horseshoe circuit of hills, ensures that whether you are looking for a gallop along the sands of Rossbeigh, a trek in the mountains overlooking the village or a gentle stroll along the country roads, you will find what you are looking for in Glenbeigh.

With rides to suit everyone from toddlers (and nervous parents!) to the more experienced, why not include some horse riding in your holiday plans while in Glenbeigh.

Walking

Glenbeigh is a walker's paradise, offering all levels of walks and hill-walks. The various walks are different in time and scenery. A relaxing stroll on the blue flag beach of Rossbeigh or a nature walk through the forest with some circular routes along lazy country roads.

For the more experienced walker the Seefin loop walk (3hrs) to the testing Coomasaharn Horseshoe (6-7hrs) with an extended alternative route if you dare. With countless walks in nearby Caragh Lake, Glencar and Kells. Also just 30 mins away from the McGillycuddy Reeks.

Bird Watching

Glenbeigh is a haven for bird watching as its country-side is so varied in such a condensed area such as: forests, marshes, wetlands, estuary, rivers, coastline, mudflats and uplands.

A huge array of birds winter here as well as a stopover for migrating birds. Glenbeigh is the ideal location as a base for birdwatchers as it's central to the Dingle Peninsula and the Blasket Islands and also the Iveragh Peninsula and the Skellig Islands.

Fishing

If you are a beginner or a keen angler Glenbeigh is the place for you. Its unique location on the shores of the Atlantic, complimented by the surrounding rivers and lakes, should fit the needs for any angler's preference. Rossbeigh can cater for all shore anglers be it beach-casting spinning, plugging or saltwater fly fishing. For rivers, the upper and lower Caragh River and also the Behy provide superb fishing.
