LOCATION:

Located in the heart of the world-famous Burren, this charming self-catering cottage is located in the village of Bellharbour, approximately 3.5 miles (6 km) outside Ballyvaughan. No.3 Burren Cottages is  truly a comfortable base from which to explore Ireland’s Ailwee Caves, Corcomore Abbey and the world-famous Cliffs of Moher. The cottage is very popular with hill walkers and those touring the coasts of Clare and Galway, it is one of 8 individual cottages & each one is set on a half acre plot.

BURREN COTTAGE:

No.3 Burren Cottages has  3 bedrooms:

  • 1 x double bedroom (ground floor)
  • 2 x twin bedrooms (upstairs)
  • Main bathroom with bath & shower (ground floor)
  • WC & sink upstairs

The cottage also has an open-plan living room/dining area with a TV and a cosy real open fire.

The kitchen is fully equipped with

  • washing machine/dryer
  • fridge
  • cooker.

Cots and high chairs are available on request.

Your pet is welcome at Burren Cottage. The owners respectfully ask that you keep your pet in the kitchen/utility tiled area of the house. An additional cleaning fee of €30 applies, this is payable directly to the keyholder onsite. Please be sure to mention your pet on booking.

BELLHARBOUR VILLAGE:

The village of Bellharbour is located on an inlet of Ballyvaughan Bay, on the Burren coastal route. A vist to Daly's pub, just 5 minutes walk from the cottage is highly recommended after a day in the outdoors.. 

BALLYVAUGHAN:

Ballyvaughan is nestled between the mountains of the Burren and the sea, on the southern shore of Galway Bay. It is known as the Capital of the Burren. Its a great place for peace and tranquility, those who look for traditional music and old pubs, for the archaeologists, botanists and fishermen. Families will also enjoy the safety of the beach in Bishops Quarter & surfers will love the waves in nearby Fanore & Lahinch. Hillwalking and cycling are among the most popular pastimes among locals and tourists alike.

VISITOR ATTRACTIONS

The Cliffs of Moher:  Approx 30mins drive (27km) from Bellharbour are the world renowned Cliffs of Moher.  Defiantly standing as giant natural protection against the might of the great Atlantic Ocean the Cliffs rise to over 215 m (700ft) and stretch for over 8km.  A real must see.

Lahinch Seaworld and Leisure Centre: Seaworld offers a variety of facilities in two main sections namely the swimming complex and the Atlantic Aquarium.  The swimming complex features a 25m deck level pool, kiddies pool, jacuzzi and sauna and the Aquarium features a fascinating array of marine specimens including a lobster breeding station and a blow-hole wave explosion.  Located approx 30Km from Bellharbour.

The Burren

The northwestern corner of County Clare features The Burren - a rock garden of no ordinary proportions.  The Burren extends over more than 100 square miles and most of it is bare, pale, grey limestone however it is interspersed with magnificent floral pockets and crevices with spectacular coastla borders.  This truly is a unique place to visit while staying in Clare. 

Aillwee Cave

Located just outside Ballyvaughan, Aillwee Cave is one of the west of Ireland’s top tourist attractions with its stalactites, stalagmites, relics of bears and Waterfall. 

Aran Islands

The Aran Islands are one of the last outposts of Gaelic civilisation.  They are stunningly beautiful and feature ancient relics of prehistoric civilisations.  Dalily boat trips operate from Doolin - which boasts the shortest ferry crossing - to all three of the Aran Islands.
