THE ACCOMMODATION

These brand new holiday homes are attached to the Marine Hotel in Glandore overlooking the stunningly picturesque harbour.  There are both 2 and 3 bedroom options available, each accommodating up to 5 people.  The 2 bedroom layout has 1 double ensuite and 1 family room with 1 double and 1 single also ensuite.  The 3 bedroom layout has 1 double ensuite, 1 twin ensuite and 1 single bedroom.

In all there are 18 holiday homes, each equipped to the very highest standard.  Both the living room and the bedrooms are fitted with flat screen TV’s.  The living room has a contemporary design and features Italian leather suites and a cosy fireplace.

The kitchens are equipped with all the modern conveniences including washing machine, tumble dryer, dishwasher, cooker, stand-up fridge, freezer, iron & ironing board, microwave, toaster, kettle and granite-finished worktops.

All bed linen and towels are provided. 

Please note that there are showers only and no baths in these holiday homes. Also mobile phone coverage is extremely poor in Glandore.

THE MARINE HOTEL

Guests of the Holiday Homes are treated as Residents of the onsite Marine Hotel.  The Hotel features a very popular restaurant offering a wonderful selection of both local and international dishes.  The bar is light and airy and has split levels taking full advantage of the picturesque views over Glandore Pier and Harbour.  There is also an outdoor patio area for those fine days to really enjoy this magical setting. It features an electronic overhead covering and sensor heating along with an outdoor plasma screen TV.

THE LOCATION

Glandore is a tiny village located in the heart of West Cork, just an hour’s drive from Cork International Airport (approximately a 5 hour drive from Dublin).  It is acclaimed as one of the prettiest villages in Ireland.  The literal translation of Glandore is “Harbour of Oaks”.

Due to its location right on the water and overlooking Glandore Harbour, the village is a very popular spot during the summer months for water sports enthusiasts.  The Gulf Stream passes close to Glandore ensuring a mild climate all year round along with some very interesting and unusual plants and flowers. 

It is unusual that Glandore Village does not have a shop (the closest is Centra in Union Hall) however it does offer some excellent restaurants and bars!

The busy fishing port of Union Hall is just 1.5km across the water from Glandore and is linked by a fascinating bridge.

The bustling town of Skibbereen is just 5 miles away.

LOCAL ACTIVITIES & ATTRACTIONS

There are many small beaches in Glandore and its surrounding areas however the largest sandy beach is at Rosscarbery.  There is also a Pitch and Putt Course beside the beach for some competitive family fun!

The nearby Rectory Restaurant is a private party venue which is known for its beautiful surroundings and fine dining food most noted for sophisticated weddings of up to 100 seated guests additional 60 evening guests.

Two miles east of Glandore is the Drombeg Stone Circle, one of the finest recumbant stone circles in the country. An afternoon walk through the magnificent scenery to visit this ancient historic site is on of the most relaxing ways to wile away a sunny day while on holiday in Glandore.

There are also plenty of water sports available in the locality. Sailing is popular in Glandore itself while in neighbouring towns there are water sport centres which cater for everything from scuba diving to kite surfing.
 
For children there are three playgrounds within easy driving distance – one in Union Hall, one in Skibbereen and the other in Clonakilty.

Clonakilty is also well known for its model railway which appeals to children of all ages.

The closest indoor swimming pool is at the Celtic Ross Hotel in Rosscarbery.
