GOLDEN POND LODGEThis lovely period house sits proudly on a hill beside the river Laune and Killorglin town, it is cozy, spacious, beautifully decorated and very comfortable. Enter the front door into a center hall that has a delightful mural of Irish Life. This is the start of the charm which continues throughout the house. Turn left into the cozy sitting room with its original slate and marble fireplace. This room is decorated in very warm shades of red and yellow. The atmosphere is warm and rich. Across the hallway is the superb kitchen/dining area with an original slate and marble fireplace. The kitchen units are cream painted wood with two stained glass cabinets at each side of the traditional stove cooker. This cooker is very easy to operate. (full instructions are in the house}, The kitchen has ample units for a family. Appliances include, large fridge/freezer, belfast sink, dishwasher and microwave oven. The farmhouse table can easily seat six. The dining area has an antique upright piano. The walls in this area are decorated with framed old music sheets which gives an atmosphere of real fun. Off the kitchen is a very comfortable large conservatory with three couches, satellite TV and an electric fire set in a traditional stone surround. This room has panoramic views of the front lawn and side woodland area of the garden. The kitchen leads to the south facing patio area through a quaint traditional half door. It is lovely to sit in the kitchen in the morning having had your Irish Breakfast cooked on the stove to open the top section of the door and breath the superb fresh air blowing in from the Atlantic sea. The patio area has a gas barbecue, tables and benches with sun umbrellas The patio is completely private and is ideal for sunbathing. There two double bedrooms on the ground floor. Each bedroom has a double mahogany sleigh bed, bedside tables with reading lamps. The beds are very comfortable and dressed in cotton sheets and duck down duvets. Each bedroom is very bright with double aspect windows looking out to the gardens. There is ample storage space for holidays. There is a family bathroom on the ground floor, which has a large bath with shower. The washer dryer is also in this bathroom. The upstairs bedroom has a single bed and a futon which would be large enough for an adult or two small children. A cot is also available. Across the small hallway is a long narrow bathroom which has a stand in shower cubicle. ACCESSIBILITY NOTICE.This house is a very good choice for those who have moderate mobility limitations. You can park right in front of the door. The path to the house is hard and flat. Two bedrooms and bathroom are on the ground floor. There are no steps from the house to the patio/garden area. LOCAL ACTIVITIESRing of KerryKillorglin is located at the gateway to the Ring of Kerry. This is a world famous scenic drive around the Iveragh Peninsula which takes you through such quaint and picturesque towns as Glenbeigh, Cahirsiveen, Waterville, Sneem, Kenmare and Killarney. Rossbeigh BeachLocated just 8 miles from Killorglin lies this beautiful sandy Blue Flag beach. It is seven kilometres in length and is ideal for swimming. windsurfing, sailing, horse-trekking, sailing, sea fishing, shore fishing and many other water sports and activities. GolfKillorglin boasts its own scenic 18 hole Dooks Golf Course with spectacular views over Dingle Bay. With its prime location on the gateway to the Ring of Kerry, Killorglin is the ideal base for a golfing holiday as the courses of Waterville, Kenmare, Ring of Kerry and Killarney are all within driving distance. Horse RidingThere is a number of Equestrian Centres around Killorglin offering pony trekking along the strand or indeed up more hilly terrain. WalkingKillorglin and its surrounding areas offers a wude variety of walking routes from quiet country walks to coastal walks to The Kerry Way and the ascent of Ireland’s highest mountain – Carrauntuohill. AnglingKillorglin is situated on the river Laune, an excellent salmon fishing river. The river Laune boasts a run of Salmon and the river also drains the largest of the Killarney Lakes which is known for its brown trout. A private boat is available for fishing/boat trips. CyclingKillorglin is an ideal place for cycling and bikes are available for hire on a daily or weekly basis. GlencarPerched high above Caragh Lake lies the naturally beautiful district of Glencar which is a popular section of the Kerry Way Walking Route. It is also offers some of the most picturesque picnic areas imaginable. Caragh LakeCaragh Lake lies just on the outskirts of Killorglin town. The lake is five miles long by one mile wide and is well known to artists, walkers and lovers of nature alike. This freshwater lake with its backdrop of the MacGillycuddy Reeks mountain rainge and the lower Caragh River is renowned for salmon and trout fishing and for various watersports.
