Maiden Rock House is located in beautiful Tahilla between Kenmare and Sneem on the Ring of Kerry road in South Kerry.  The house is built on the waters edge, perched on Kenmare Bay and sited to maximise the breathtaking views over the bay, islands and Beara Peninsula.

This magnificent house is built and furnished to a very high standard and reflects the work of local craftsmen throughout. The house is laid out over three floors with the large kitchen, dining area (dining table can seat up to 10 people), family room, conservatory, study/bedroom (with pull out double sofa bed) and 1 double bedroom on the ground floor, 5 bedrooms (3 of which are en-suite) on the first floor and a games room on the second floor (with 4 single beds in it). The house can comfortably sleep 18 people. There are 2 separate bathrooms in the house.

  • Electricity is included in the rate you have paid.
  • Please note that the owners of Maiden Rock House will ask you for credit card details as security on arrival or where this is not available; you will be required to give a security deposit of €500.00 and any breakages will be deducted from your credit card or if you prefer, you can replace the item yourself

The decor is relaxing and elegant with antique furniture, open fireplace, polished oak floors and an impressive antique dining table.  This idyllic retreat has breathtaking views from most of the rooms.

This is an ideal location for touring the Ring of Kerry, Beara Peninsula and Killarney National Park.

A non-refundable booking deposit of 10% of the rental rate is required on booking, to secure your reservation.

 

LOCAL ACTIVITIES

Maiden Rock House lies approximately 30 minutes drive from a host of sandy beaches and Kenmare is just a 20 minute drive away which has a very pretty harbour from where you can swim, fish or take a trip on the "Seafari Cruise" to view the wildlife in the area.

Star Sailing & Adventure Centre

Kenmare has the wonderful Star Sailing & Adventure Centre situated on the shores of Kenmare Bay and surrounded by the Caha Mountains just a five minute drive from Kenmare Town Centre.  The range of activities includes Sailing, Kayaking, Sea Kayaking, Windsurfing, Hillwalking, Boat Trips and much more.  There is something to suit all the family.  Guests of Inbhear Sceine can avail of special Dream Ireland discounted rates.  Please enquire with the Centre directly.  For more information visit www.staroutdoors.ie.

Golf

The Ring of Kerry Golf Course is located in Templenoe and offers spectacular views of Kenmare Bay from the course itself and also its newly renovated Club House.  Dream Ireland guests may avail of special discounted green fees www.ringofkerry.com

Kenmare Golf Club is located in Kenmare Town and follows the shores of Kenmare Bay Estuary.   

Angling

There are lots of great fishing spots to choose from in the locality including Clonee Lake, Kenmare Bay,  Black Valley & The Long Lake [5 minute drive away].  Permits can be obtained locally.

Hill Walking

The Kerry Way and Beara Way walking routes are ideal for those with an interest in trekking or you could even join the annual summer hike to Ireland's highest mountain, Carrauntouhil.  The foothills of the famous MacGillycuddy Reeks are right on Kenmare's doorstep. 

Diving

The local area offers some incredible dive spots and wrecks.  You may even be lucky enough to come across a dolphin or two.  Try-dives are available for beginners and advanced dives for the more experienced.  For more information visit www.kenmarebaydiving.com.

Pony Trekking

Pony Trekking is the ideal way to explore the hidden treasures of County Kerry.  Professional lessons are also available for beginners.

Other activities in the area include quad biking, pet farms, craft workshops and bicycle hire. 

SNEEM

This picturesque village with its colourful shop fronts and friendly people is located just a 10 minute drive away. There are two greens in the village which feature several momuments marking significant moments in the villages' past. The Garden of the Senses is a beautiful place to sit and relax with an abundance of flowers & shrubs maintained by the local community.

Sneem offers several dining options from cafes, bar food & restaurants serving an array of seafood.

There are several bars featuring live music sessions during the summers especially when the village is a hive of activity.

KENMARE

Kenmare is known as the jewel in the Ring of Kerry and no wonder with its location between two of the most beautiful touring routes in Europe - the Ring of Kerry and the Ring of Beara.  These make for very enjoyable day trips from Kenmare.

Kenmare is a designated Heritage Town of Ireland and the town offers a huge selection of places of historical interest to visit.  Even strolling around the town is itself a pleasure with Kenmare having received awards from Entente Floral and the award for the Tidiest Town in Ireland in the year 2000. 

The town of Kenmare, noted for having the cleanest air in Europe, is a mecca for some of the finest restaurants in Ireland.  You really will be spoilt for choice when it comes to dining out, from bar food to seafood and a range of other types of excellent restaurants to experience.  The nightlife in Kenmare suits all ages and the hospitality with which you will be greeted is second to none.  There is a great selection of pubs and late night bars to choose from with many featuring live music from traditional Irish to rock and modern styles.
