The Shannon Oaks Hotel & Country Club have recently launched 38 brand new spacious self catering apartments to complement the existing 22 self catering lodges and 63 hotel bedrooms.

Portumna is located just 2.5 hours from Dublin and 1 hour from Galway & Limerick so it is an ideal location for a long stay or short break. The area offers many activities such as cruising, fishing & angling, equestrian centres, karting, golfing and many other visitor attractions.

The apartments are designed to the highest specifications. There are two types of apartments ground floor & duplex. 

EASTER ACTIVITIES AT THE SHANNON OAKS

Easter Egg Hunt:  Sunday 4th April at midday (open to all residents u14yrs.)

Kids’ Camps:        Tuesday 6th to Friday 9th April. Activities and swimming from 10am-2pm and Movie Club from 7-8:30pm

• A coat, towel and swimming gear is required
• Pre-register the day before at Leisure Centre reception

2 BED GROUND FLOOR APARTMENTS

The ground floor apartments each contain 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms (the beds are zip and link beds so can be either doubles or twins).  Each of these ground floor apartments has a balcony opening out from the living room overlooking the tranquil Portumna Forest Park.  The living room contains a comfy suite of furniture and a TV/ DVD combination unit.  The kitchens are spacious and contain the following equipment:

• 4 ring hob
• Convection Microwave (which can be used as an oven)
• Dishwasher
• Toaster
• Kettle
• Fridge with Icebox

All bed linen and towels are provided. 

Please note that there are no laundry facilities in the Apartments.  

The residents of the apartments can enjoy all the facilities of The Shannon Oaks Hotel including their Award Winning White Flag Leisure Centre & Country Club, while enjoying the independence & privacy of a fully contained apartment.

There are 4 x wheelchair accessible apartments located on the ground level.

2 BED DUPLEX APARTMENTS

The entrances to the Duplex Apartments are situated on the first floor up a flight of stairs.  Each Duplex consists of two bedrooms (one with ensuite bathroom), and they are modern in style.  Again, the bedrooms can be either double or twin depending on your requirement.  The living areas, all with balconies overlooking the tranquil Portumna Forest Park, are spacious and tastefully decorated.  The bedrooms are located upstairs and both are ensuite.  There is also a guest toilet downstairs.

The kitchens in the Duplex Apartments are spacious and contain the following equipment:

• Oven

• Kettle
• Fridge with Icebox

FROM DUBLIN
Take the N7/M7 Naas, Limerick road from Dublin. Proceed on N7 bypassing Naas and join M7 bypassing Newbridge, Portlaoise, rejoining N7 at Mountrath. Proceed on N7 through Borris-in-Ossory entering Roscrea. Take N62 from Roscrea towards Birr. From Birr, follow R489 signposted Portumna.  Approximately 2 hours 15 minutes.

FROM LIMERICK
Take the N7 Dublin Road from Limerick. At Nenagh follow the signs for Birr and then Portumna N52 through to Borrisokane. Take the N65 signposted Portumna. Approximately 1.5 hours.

FROM BELFAST
Take the M1 in the direction of Dublin onto the A1 to Newry. Then take the N1 signposted Castleblaney, Dundalk and the N52 towards Mullingar. Follow the signs for Tullamore and on to Birr. From here take the N62 in the direction of Roscrea. Turn right onto the N52 again in the direction of Nenagh through to Riverstown where you branch right onto the R489 (signposted Portumna). Take the N65 to Portumna. Approximately 4 hours.
