Westcove Cottage is a newly built 3 bedroom Country Cottage set on the Ring of Kerry in Castlecove, only 2 miles from the panoramic beaches of Derrynane and Caherdaniel. The cottage is just 10mins walk from golden sandy beach at Castlecove.

Traditional in style with timber floors and original stone fire place, Westcove Cottage has a warm, cozy atmosphere with beautiful views of the surrounding countryside.

Bedrooms are fitted with authentic antique furnishings and original paintings to give an old world feel to the rooms. The bedroom layout is: 1 x double ensuite downstairs, 1 x twin upstairs & 1 x triple upstairs (1 x double bed & 1 x single bed). The main bathroom features a Jacuzzi bath.

The kitchen has a three panel large bay window which looks out on to the gardens.

Outdoor furniture is set on a deck with BBQ overlooking the mountains.

Ample parking space in private drive entrance with gates for privacy.

Please note:  Electricity & oil for heating is charged at 75.00 euro per week; this is payable in cash to the onsite supervisor, Noreen, on arrival.

CARETAKER OF WESTCOVE COTTAGE

Ms. Noreen McAllen is the caretaker of Westcove Cottage and will look after you while you are here. Noreen will contact you soon after you arrive and if you have any problems there after, Noreen will be happy to help you.

WESTCOVE COTTAGE PET POLICY

We are delighted to inform you that "Westcove Cottage", Castlecove, Co.Kerry is a " Pet Friendly" house but ON REQUEST.
All pets must weigh 40 pounds (18 kilos) or less. Please be advised that "Westcove Cottage" is situated in the centre of a sheep farm. There are also sheep on the neighbouring farms, so we do advise that all pet owners need to keep their pets under supervision. Farmers will act if your pet is chasing their sheep,and they are within their legal rights to do so,so better safe than sorry. We do advise to keep your pet on a lead at all times both outside and when walking around the surrounding areas of Westcove Cottage.
An external dog house and food / water bowls are provided for your pet. We look forward to meeting your pets.

Extra charge of 30 euro applies per pet - please check with Dream Ireland first before you bring your pet

FUEL

You can buy turf (peat) from the McAllen family who charge per bag.
Coal can be bought from O’Leary’s Shop (The Green Shop) in Castlecove and also from Freddie’s Grocery shop in Caherdaniel.

Bags of Firewood offcuts can be bought from the SawMill in Sneem Village.

LOCAL SHOPPING

Basic food and house hold items can be bought from O’Leary’s (The Green Shop) in Castlecove. There is a general food store in Freddie’s in Caherdaniel, approximately 5 km’s away with a wider selection of products available.

NEWSPAPERS

You can purchase Irish Newspapers and a limited supply of English Newspapers form either O’Leary’s (The Green Shop) or Freddie’s Grocery Shop in Caherdaniel. Either shop will be happy to order the newspaper of your choice if it is not in stock.

Smoked Wild Irish Salmon and fresh fish can be bought from the Fish Factory at the Car Ferry Pier of Valentia Island close before Cahirsiveen.

There is a Country Market every Friday morning in the Town Hall of Caherdaniel with fresh vegetables and homemade foods.

BABYSITTING

Your caretaker Ms. Noreen McAllen can also arrange to find a babysitter if you give sufficient notice.
Prices of babysitters vary, dependent on time and number of children to sit for.

HEATING

The open fire in the living room will burn coal, turf and wood.
Please ensure to cover an open fire with the fireguard provided.

To be really effective the fire should be cleaned out old ashes daily (when about to be lit again).

RADIATORS

The heating is set to come on in the morning and in the early evening also. Should you wish to reset the heating, please ask Noreen McAllen to show you the heating switch to reset.

REFUSE

We will provide pre-paid refuse bags which are different colours to represent the different refuse types.  This will be arranged for you by your caretaker Ms. Noreen McAllen.  Upon departure we ask that our guests drop their refuse to the local refuse drop off point in Caherdaniel Village.

DEPARTURE

In the event that any of the services in Westcove Cottage break down, ie washing machine etc, do not hesitate to contact Noreen McAllen, who will have it replaced or mended, as appropriate.

Before leaving please ensure that you have left the kitchen area in the same clean condition that you found it in.

Please feel free to leave your comments in the Visitors Book placed on the Hospitality Desk in the Hallway.

On the last day of your stay at Westcove Cottage, the house should be vacated by 10.00am- if you need more time, please contact Noreen McAllen, however please consider that there may be another family checking in on the same day.
