Welcome to Muckross Lakeside Holiday Village (formerly Muckross Holiday Village and Castlelough Holiday Homes).  Consisting of four clusters of holiday homes and located just over a mile from the heart of Killarney Town, these properties are ideally situated for you to gain maximum enjoyment from your stay.  Each of the Holiday Homes has been designed to combine the very highest standard of accommodation and charm. 

THE ACCOMMODATION

There are two types of houses available at Muckross Lakeside Holiday Village.  The three bedroomed houses consist of one master double bedroom ensuite, one twin bedroom and a single bedroom with separate bathroom sleeping up to 5 people.  The four bedroomed options contain one master double bedroom ensuite, two twin bedrooms and one single bedroom with separate bathroom sleeping up to seven people.   

There is also one house specifically designed for wheelchair users with a separate downstairs bedroom and bathroom with roll-in shower. 

The spacious lounge is tastefully furnished and contains a comfortable suite of furniture, 42" colour television, DVD player and electric fireplace.  There is an immediate sense of space upon entering these houses they are very bright and airy.     

The open plan kitchen/ dining area has plenty of space and is fully equipped with all modern conveniences including electric cooker, fridge/freezer, dishwasher, washer/dryer and microwave.  All necessary kitchen utensils and crockery are also provided.

The houses are set in the style of Courtyard and each group of eight houses shares a large green area at the back of the houses for children to play or to while away those long summer evenings. 

Secure private parking is available for each house.  The Holiday Homes are heated by electric central heating with storage heaters in each room.   Electricity is an extra charge and is payable on departure as follows: during July & August it is charged at a daily rate of €6 per day. During all other months the charge is based on meter reading €.20c per unit day rate & €.10c per unit night rate.  All bed linen and towels are provided. 

KILLARNEY

Killarney is without a doubt one Ireland’s finest and most beautiful tourist towns.  This picturesque town is nestled among deep, lake filled valleys and Ireland’s highest mountains – the MacGillycuddy Reeks.

Killarney National Park (25,000 acres of lakes, rivers and walks) is literally across the road from Muckross Lakeside Holiday Village The Town itself provides an incredible range of beautiful shops, leisure activities, a multiplex cinema and entertainment that will help you relax and unwind throughout the day and night and a huge selection of restaurants to tempt your taste buds.

LOCAL ACTIVITIES

Golf

With its world famous golf courses including Killeen and O’Mahony’s Point, Killarney truly is a Golfer’s paradise.  Other famous Kerry courses such as Ballybunion, Ring of Kerry, Kenmare, Dooks and Tralee are all within a short drive of Killarney. 

Leisure Centres

Killarney is home to a huge number of Leisure Centres many of which offer daily and weekly membership to families. The leisure Centre with the biggest pool in Killarney, 25 metres is only a 5 minute stroll from the holiday homes.  Please enquire directly with us. 

Walking

Killarney provides both the rambler and serious walker with the ultimate in diversity. The choice of walks is endless, from the Kerry Way which is the country's longest way-marked trail, to the highest peaks in Ireland - the Macgillycuddy Reeks

Fishing

The Killarney Lakes are three in number, Lake Leane, Middle Lake and Upper Lake, all of which are all excellent for salmon and brown trout.  Boats and ghillies can be arranged.

Pony Trekking

Pony trekking is a very popular activity in Killarney.  Two of the most popular routes are through the National Park and the Gap of Dunloe Trek.  

Cycling

Killarney is the perfect place for cycling and bikes are available for hire on a daily or weekly basis. There is a Shop 500 yards from Muckross Lakeside Holiday Village that does bike hire.

Jaunting Cars

Killarney is famous for its horse-drawn Jaunting Cars which offer the visitor a novel means of touring the sights.

Killarney National Park is just a two minute drive from Muckross Lakeside Holiday Village.  It consists of 25,000 acres of lakes, rivers, mountains, wildlife and walks where all year round you can commune with Nature without interruption.

Ring of Kerry

A trip to Killarney would not be complete without experiencing the Ring of Kerry scenic drive around the Iveragh Peninsula taking you through such quaint and picturesque towns as Killorglin, Cahirsiveen, Waterville, Sneem and Kenmare.

GETTING THERE

By Train or Bus – regular daily trains and buses run directly to Killarney from Dublin and Cork.  Muckross Lakeside Holiday Village is just a five minute taxi ride from the Station.

By Plane – Killarney has its own airport in Farranfore with an increasing number of direct flights.   Car hire is available at the airport.  Muckross Lakeside Holiday Village is just a 15 minute taxi ride from the airport.  Alternatively, Cork Airpoirt is approximately 100km or 1 ½ hour’s drive away. 

DIRECTIONS

From Killarney Town Centre follow the ‘Muckross Road’ (N71) towards the Gleneagle Hotel on your left and travel on for another 400 metres where you a sign for Muckross Lakeside Holiday Village on the left.

Check-in Details

Possession of your house can be taken between 4.00pm- 6pm.  Houses must be vacated by 10.00am on the day of departure.  It is important that you contact our site Supervisor Anne on  087 6551325 (00353 87 6551325 international) at least 24 hours prior to arrival to arrange your arrival time.  Failure to notify the supervisor of late arrival could result in long waiting times as the supervisor does not live onsite.
