BARLEY COVE

Barley Cove has long been a favourite seaside destination attracting families back year after year.  Barley Cove is a large sandy beach backed by sand dunes which were thrown up in the tidal wave which swept Europe after the earthquake in Lisbon in 1755.  Today the dunes have been partially eroded but are protected like much of the coastal area round this area as European designated Special Areas of Conservation.  Barley Cove is located between the towns of Goleen and Crookhaven in West Cork.

LOCAL ACTIVITIES

This is the ideal holiday destination with a host of varied activities to appeal to everyone whatever their interests including:

HORSE RIDING

The closest equestrian centre to Barley Cove is in Goleen (a five minute drive away).  It caters for every level of rider and is ideal for children.

WALKING

Barely Cove and the Mizen Peninsula offer some breathtaking views along truly spectacular cliff tops and coastal walks.

ANGLING

Charter boats are available for deep sea angling out of Crookhaven and other fishing villages in the area.  A wide range of fish species is usually recorded each year from this area.

We give it ten out of ten

"We would highly recommend Cottage 25 at Barley Cove in West Cork. We stayed there for a week in June with family and kids and we loved it. Just a 2 minute walk from the beach, safe play area for the kids and very relaxing surroundings...we will definitely be returning customers and give it 10/10."

25 barley cove cottage

"Stayed here in August 2016 with wife and 3 kids under 12, what a place! The location is fabulous with a fantastic beach and a small hotel in the complex with bar and food right at your doorstep. The cottage we stayed in was great too, it had everything we needed and was well looked after, I spoke with the owner who was happy to share her knowledge of the area with us and was very accommodating (THANK YOU). Between the cottage, the beach, the hotel, mizen head, the beautiful scenery and the friendly people we had a great holiday and would highly recommend barley cove and will definitely stay there again."

Location, Location

"What a perfect place to stay. It has all the amenities we needed with a small baby of 8 months. The house was in perfect condition and was very clean. It is right beside the hotel but far enough away that there was no noise at night. The walk to the Mizen head each morning at 10am was the highlight for us as the coffee shop opens up there at 10.30. Looking forward to our stay again next year!!!!"

Loved our stay in Barley Cove Courtyard Cottage 25

"We had a wonderful week in Barleycove. The cottage was perfect. We chilled there very comfortably and it was the perfect base to walk to the beach (which we did twice each day) and to visit Mizen Head, Goleen, Bantry... We'll definitely be back ;)"

We will definitely be back

"We stayed in the cottages from 8-15 August 2015 and had an absolutely fantastic time. The house was perfect, clean, spacious, well maintained, had everything that we needed. The location is perfect right beside the beach and with the hotel on your doorstep for great food and fabulous views of the beach. We had the perfect week weather-wise, which always helps, but found the location a great place to base yourself for travelling around West Cork. I cannot recommend the accommodation and location highly enough and we will definitely be back."
