Description
The original cottage part of The Old House dates back 160 years and houses the main living areas of the property. A distinctive barn style roof extension has been added to the house in recent years which is home to the bedrooms. A conservatory links the old with the new and is a lovely relaxing space with one fully glassed side opening out onto a patio. There is lounge furniture in the conservatory, so it is essentially a second sitting room.
The original cottage has the combined living, sitting and dining room areas. The kitchen is fully equipped with new appliances and has all the crockery, cutlery and glassware you will need. It also has an oven, hob, dishwasher, microwave, kettle, toaster and fridge. There is a separate utility room with a washing machine, tumble dryer and chest freezer. This is in the new section of the house.
In the centre of the room is the dining area with a white oak table that can be extended to seat up to 8 people. The sitting room has a TV, couch and armchair as well as the original fireplace with a solid fuel burning stove within. Wifi is available free of charge to our guests.
In the new section of the house there are four bedrooms. There is a double bedroom with ensuite shower along with a twin bedroom with lovely views over Lough Conn below. The main family bathroom is also downstairs and has a shower over bath.
Upstairs is the master double bedroom with lovely lake views and this is ensuite. The fourth bedroom has a king sized bed in it.
The house is heated with oil fired central heating.
Outside, the house is set on ½ an acre of land which leads down to the lake shore from the lower meadow section. There is a little picnic area there for you to enjoy during your stay. There is gravel all around the house with plenty of space for parking and children will enjoy playing in the garden.
This house offers direct lake access so young children would need to be supervised at all times. The little pier close by is ideal for swimming and for watersports as it is in a safe little bay off the main lake.
