The Walled Garden Lodge is a well-loved family home which has been designed to be both practical and comfortable. It is a bright and light-filled property which is cosy in winter and airy in the summer. 

The house overlooks the 10th Fairway of the Championship Jack Nicklaus designed golf course and it is located beside the Walled Garden of the 5 star Georgian Estate just a few minutes walk to the Clubhouse and Manor House Hotel.  Onsite is the spectacular River Nore with its salmon and trout fishing as well as beautiful parkland walks, horse riding, archery and more. 

In order to maximise the light, the views and the setting of this home, the living areas are located on the first floor and the bedrooms on the ground floor. An impressive staircase brings you from the entrance hall directly up into the living area which is very spacious and is open plan.  There are comfortable couches beside the welcoming electric fire and there is a TV. Wifi is available free of charge to all guests.

The dining room can comfortably seat up to 8 people.  It is a lovely room and would be ideal for a long lingering meal with family or friends to catch up on your day’s adventures!  There is a small balcony off this dining room and it is lovely for enjoying a late morning brunch while enjoying the sunshine and overlooking the garden below.
 
The kitchen is alongside the dining room and it shares this space with a second sitting room.  The kitchen is very well equipped and has everything to hand that you will require during your stay.  This sitting room area has a TV and couches and is bright and comfortable. There is a guest toilet on the first floor.
 
All four bedrooms are on the ground floor.  The master bedroom is large and has lots of space for storing all your clothes.  It is ensuite and has both a bath and a separate shower.  It has a super-king-sized double bed and a lovely feature is the patio area outside accessed through double doors out to the garden. The room alongside the Master is a twin bedroom with two single beds.  It too has patio doors leading outside and is ensuite with a shower. The third bedroom is ensuite with a shower and has two single beds and the fourth bedroom is another super-king.  It is also ensuite with shower.
 
There is a well-equipped utility room on the ground floor with a washing machine and a tumble dryer along with an enormous amount of storage space ideal for housing golf clubs, riding gear and all sorts.  
 
While staying at The Walled Garden Lodge, guests may make dining and golf reservations as residents of the Resort. Booking prior to arrival is advised.
 
PETS
Should you have a small well behaved and non-shed dog that you would like to bring along with you then please enquire with us at the time of booking as the owner will consider such requests.

Local Attractions:

JERPOINT PARK - Jerpoint Park is a Heritage Site which is close to Mount Juliet Estate. This site is the Lost Town of Newtown Jerpoint a deserted medieval town dating back to 1200 AD. You can take part in guided Heritage Tours of Jerpoint Park where you will learn about the importance of once thriving town Newtown Jerpoint, and watch sheep dog demonstrations.
 
KILKENNY CASTLE - Kilkenny Castle is a must see when you visit Kilkenny. The castle has been in existence for over eight centuries and stands over the River Nore. There have been many additions and alterations to the fabric of the building, making Kilkenny Castle today a complex structure of various architectural styles. Take a guided tour of the castle and learn about its rich heritage.
 
DUNMORE CAVE - History and geology blend at Dunmore Cave to give an interesting and unique situation. You will get to enter Dunmore Cave and feel the temperature drop as go. Here you will learn all about history and stories of the chambers that were formed over millions of years.
 
CASTLECOMER DISCOVERY PARK - Castlecomer Discovery Park is set in the former grounds of the Wandesforde Estate, which comprises 80 acres of stunning natural woodland and lakes. This park offers a range of recreational, cultural and educational amenities and activities for all the family. Activities include tree top walk, zip lining, canoeing, walking trails and elf & fairy village. You are sure to have hours of family entertainment.
 
NORE VALLEY OPEN FARM - Take time out and stroll around Nore Valley Open Farm, allow the children to play in the interactive and relaxing setting. Bottle feed lambs or goats and feed ducks and turkeys as well as learn about the Irish heritage of farming. Relax with a cup of tea and home baked scones or biscuits. Even in wet weather there is still plenty of fun to be had, with indoor facilities to amuse the entire family. You can stay as long as you like - a few hours or the whole day.
 
KBOWL - Ten Pin Bowling is a family activity that can be enjoyed by all ages from children as young as 3 years of age. At KBowl you can experience state of the art computerised scoring systems while relaxing on leather sofas enjoying a selection of refreshments. Always popular is the KZone area with pool, air hockey and more.
 
THE NATIONAL REPTILE ZOO - The National Reptile Zoo has over 150 animals and 50 different species on display. You will get the unique opportunity to get up close and personal with animals that you would normally only see on TV. The National Reptile Zoo includes a children’s soft play area, snack bar, indoor picnic area, tropical walk through the enclosure and reptile handling zone.
 
THE MEDIEVAL MILE - Kilkenny's Medieval Mile begins at the Anglo-Norman Kilkenny Castle right up to St. Canice's Cathedral. It is a discovery trail the runs through the city where you will see a modern city with the heritage that set it. During the trail you will be pass by many historic and medieval buildings such as St. Mary's Church and Graveyard, Tholsel Town Hall and Rothe House & Gardens, streeys and slipways such as The Butter Slip, the Smithwicks Brewry Experience, restaurants and bars.
 
THE MEDIEVAL MILE MUSEUM - The Medieval Mile Museum is located at the start of Kilkenny's Medieval Mile in St. Mary's Church, an example of an Irish Medieval Church. The museum tells the stories behind Kilkenny's history as Ireland's premier medieval city with displays of Kilkenny's civic treasures and replicas of some of the high crosses of Ossory which illustrate the local Gaelic monastic heritage and the ancient city's historic role in Ireland.  The Medieval Mile Museum tells Kilkenny's 800-year story in a modern way using hands on digital screens. You can take a guided tour or experience the museum in your own time.
 
THE SMITHWICK'S EXPERIENCE - Located in the heart of city and 5 minutes’ walk from Kilkenny Castle is the Smithwick's Experience. Smithwick's ale has been brewed in Kilkenny City for over 300 years and the tour will take you through this fascinating history and brewing traditions. During the 60 minute tour you will have the chance to experience brewing for yourself, where you get to mill the malt, smell the hops, learn about the interesting history of how Smithwick's came about and then taste the Irish Ale with a complimentary pint of Smithwick's at the end of the tour.
 
JERPOINT GLASS - Outside the gates of Mount Juliet Estate is the family owned Irish handmade glass blowing studio, Jerpoint Glass. For over 30 years Jerpoint Glass have been blowing glass by hand in this studio. Take a trip to watch demonstrations of skilled glassblowers blowing molten hot glass into the Jerpoint pieces.  You can visit their shop and gallery. In their shop you will find the full Jerpoint collection or one-off pieces available to purchase at reduced prices or look around their gallery where you will find glass, craft and art exhibitions.

There are 3 restaurants within the estate: The Lady Helen Michelin star dining, Hunters Yard and The Club House. 

LOCATION

Mount Juliet is handy for lively Kilkenny a 20 minute drive away and Dublin is a short one and a half hour drive.  There is also a regular train from Dublin to Thomastown.
