Tig Mac at Dooks is a wonderful 5 bedroom home to sleep up to 10 people just a 10 minute walk from Dooks Strand or a 10 minute drive from Rossbeigh Beach. This house is very stylish yet still manages to be warm and welcoming.
As soon as you enter the front door into the reception area you will immediately feel a sense of calm. The whole house has been decorated in muted grey colour which are comforting and relaxing and very welcoming. The kitchen is well equipped and has a dining area with table and chairs. There is a more formal dining room with a large table ideal for entertaining or for a large family meal. The sitting room is beside the dining room and is cosy with plenty of seating. There is a large TV offering satellite channels including Netflix and wifi is available free of charge.
Just off the main kitchen area is the hidden gem of this house – a fully equipped games room! This would be a teenagers paradise with a huge wall mounted TV, a pool table, a football table and even a vintage juke box! There is a large l-shaped couch in this room so it is ideal as a breakaway room from the main part of the house.
Two of the bedrooms are downstairs. One is a twin and the other is a double. They have access to the main downstairs family bathroom with a jacuzzi bath and separate shower. Carpeted stairs lead upstairs to the other three bedrooms. The master double bedroom has a balcony leading from it which offers magnificent views towards the sea. This bedroom has lovely ensuite with shower.
There is another smaller double bedroom upstairs which is also ensuite and the fifth bedroom is a twin room and has an ensuite. There is a lovely mezzanine feature in this house which overlooks the dining room downstairs and has a comfy couch perfect to sit on while enjoying the wonderful views over towards the sea beyond.
The house is set in 2 acres and is on a quiet road. It's just off The Ring of Kerry tour route and The Wild Atlantic Way. Dooks GOlf CLub is next door and is a magnificent 18 hole Links course. Dooks beach is a short walk away and offers almost total privacy and is safe bathing for young children.
A short drive takes you to Caragh Lake, The Lakes of Killarney, Rossbeigh Strand, Molls Gap, Kenmare, Dingle, Crag Cave, Valentia Island, The Skelligs, The Gap of Dunloe, Glencar, Muckross House, Ross Castle, Derrynane House, Sneem, Inch... there's lots of nice places!
Depending on the time you travel there are lots of summer festivals; Puck Fair; The Rose of Tralee; Rossbeigh Races, Dingle Races, Cahirsiveen Races, Killarney Races; Killorglin Food Festival; KFest; The Killarney Gathering; and various Sporting events. There are great restaurants nearby in Cromane, Caragh, Killorglin, and Glenbeigh, and further away in Dingle, Cahirsiveen, Kenmare and Killarney. Trad music is in lots of local bars and big shows are at the INEC in Killarney.
You can fly into Kerry Airport from Luton or Stanstead. Cork Airport is further, but offers flights from Stanstead, Heathrow, Gatwick and London City, A’s well as many international destinations. Kerry Airport is 45 mins and Cork about 2hrs drive. Ferries go from Fishguard to Rosslare or from Holyhead to Dublin. It's about 4 hrs drive from either port.
