Enter into a hallway that has a small guest powder room on the right and then the living room.
The living room is on the right of the hall. It has a peat-burning fireplace, comfortable leather sofas, nice art and TV/DVD player . The conservatory is adjacent to the living room. It has large windows on all sides that give breathtaking views of the sea, the Beara Peninsula and a small, private island. It has similar furniture as the living room so the two rooms blend as one and a table that seats four people.
The dining room has a table for 6 in a bay window that looks out onto Kenmare Bay as it goes into the Atlantic Ocean. Waves break over a small island just off the near shore. You can see the Beara Peninsula mountains across the bay.
The large kitchen has refrigerator-freezer, a gas stove and electric oven, a microwave, coffee maker, tea kettle and black counter tops. Windows face the water. The nearby laundry room has a washer and dryer and storage cabinets and a prep sink for guests who catch their own fish from the dock.
The master bedroom is on the main floor. It has a queen bed and two night tables, a desk and chair. A gas stove will keep your warm during cool nights and mornings. The closet has shelves and space for hanging clothes. Views are of the patio and, beyond that, the sea. The en suite bathroom has a double sink and a large tiled bathtub that has a window that looks onto the sea. There is a separate large tiled open shower.
Two more bedrooms are upstairs. One has a queen bed and two bedside tables and a large wardrobe. Two skylights are open to the sky - and the stars. The en suite tiled bathroom has a shower stall. Through a connecting corridor is another bedroom with two twin beds.
The other upstairs bedroom has twin beds, a night table and a wardrobe and two skylights. The en suite tiled bathroom has a shower stall.
The patio, on the south side of the house, overlooks Kenmare Bay and a small private island. Just to the west there is a peninsula populated only by cows.
The large attached garage is for your car - or for your fishing, hiking or camping equipment.
The house is on 12 acres on Kenmare Bay and the sea. There are only two other houses in the area. One is owned by Patrick, a fisherman, who catches fish, shrimp and lobster from the local dock, about 100 meters from the house. Tell him what you'd like in the evening and he'll have them for you the following day (during the season).
The house is 6 miles west of Sneem village on the Ring of Kerry Road. The house is ideal for golfers as there are many fine courses nearby. There are several beautiful walks that begin here. One is into the hills and the other is on the banks of the sea. There are well-defined trails to Castlecove and to some of the local ancient sites.
The nearest pubs are in the quaint, traditional village of Sneem. The nearest shopping is in Sneem and in Kenmare and Killarney. Nearby Castlecove village has fishing boats and boat tours as well as a beach. The famous and beautiful Derrynane Beach is about a 10 minute drive from the Cottage.
Pets are not allowed. This is a no-smoking property. Since this is a two storey cottage, it may not be suitable for small children.
