Donegal Boardwalk Resort - Carrigart Co. Donegal

Sandy Beach | Pet Friendly | Family Friendly | Activity and Adventure | Wi-Fi | Open Fireplace | Resorts

Description

Nestled between the two Donegal villages of Creeslough and Carrigart is the hidden gem of Donegal Boardwalk Resort.

In all there are 27 premium villas spread amongst 3 small cul de sacs.  Each horseshoe-shaped cluster contains a mix of 9 detached and semi-detached stone clad villas.  The grounds are meticulously maintained and the tarmacked surfaces are just perfect for children to ride their bikes or kick a ball.

A drive leads from the Resort’s entrance off the road between Carrigart and Creeslough, past the three clusters of Villas and the first children’s playground directly down to the public carpark in front of the Boardwalk Bar & Restaurant, the all weather five-a-side, tennis, basketball court, the second children’s playground and of course, the gateway to the Boardwalk itself.  A 25 minute easy stroll will bring you directly to the sandy beach and the Boardwalk’s surfaces are smooth and ideal for pushing prams and buggies or riding bikes.  From the Villas to the beach is approximately a 5km round trip and a very enjoyable walk.

There are two Villa types within the Resort.  The detached Villas are slightly larger and have 3 bedrooms sleeping up to 6 people.  They have an open plan kitchen and living room with a separate dining room area in the adjoining sun room.  Two of the bedrooms are located downstairs – one double bedroom and one twin bedroom, along with the main family bathroom with shower over bath.  Upstairs is the third and master bedroom with ensuite with shower and there is large gallery area which looks down over the living space below.

The semi-detached Villas also sleep up to 6 people in three bedrooms but these ones have two double bedrooms and a third bedroom with bunk beds (ideal for families with children).  All bedrooms are located upstairs.  There is a family bathroom with a shower over bath and the master double bedroom has an ensuite with shower.  There is also a guest toilet downstairs.  The downstairs living areas in the semi-detached villas are roomier than in the detached.

The sitting rooms in all the Villas have recently undergone extensive refurbishments and now boast cosy wood burning stoves, SMART TV’s, comfortable couches, new curtains, and best of all – free WIFI to all guests!

There is a partially fenced decked area at each of the Villas with patio furniture and all around the Villas is surrounded by grassy areas.

A certain number of Villas have been designated “pet-friendly” so all the family can go away together!  No need to leave the dog behind this summer. There is an additional charge of €30.00 per pet payable onsite and you must mention at the time of booking that you will be bringing your dog.

This is a Resort that has been well thought out and planned with your needs in mind.  In fact you need never leave the Resort during your stay if you come with your groceries at the start!

Fantastic location

"Donegal Boardwalk Resort is a fantastic location for a break in Donegal. It's well situated just a couple of miles from Carrigart and Downings in one direction and the Dunfanaghy area in another. Glenveagh National Park is close and Letterkenny is only 20 minutes away by car. The detached house we rented was perfect for our group of six, with three large and airy bedrooms and two bathrooms as well as a really nice downstairs living space - lounge, kitchen and conservatory/dining room. The house was extremely well equipped, meticulously maintained and really clean as well as comfortable. George (the supervisor) makes the arrival and familiarisation process very informal and effective. Like quite a few others at the resort, we travelled with our dog, making this place pretty much perfect for dog owners. A two minutes walk takes you and your dog to the Donegal Boardwalk Restaurant and the 1.1 km boardwalk itself to the magnificent (and largely empty) beach which runs for several miles into Downings. We couldn't fault this place at all. The houses are of a really high standard, they're perfectly located and well managed. We will be back."

Loved the location.

"Loved the location. Absolutely fantastic scenery and gorgeous beach. House was lovely but looking a little bit worn in places - kitchen door damaged and sofa a bit worn. These were minor issues - it was ideal for what we needed and we would return"

"Great space to relax, and kids to be independent. Food down by the Boardwalk very good. We really enjoyed the house and the teenagers didn't want to leave it to venture out, and neither did we. Great location for family time together"
