Maybury Cottage is located on the Maybury Family Farm at Tubrid, Kenmare. This house has been in the family for 6 generations and is now owned and run by Richard Maybury and Family. It was the original family home and was sensitively restored in 2008, with all original features such as fireplaces, beams, etc being restored to create a lovely mix of the old and the new.
The Cottage has 3 bedrooms ensuite (the owner will not acccept parties of more than 6 people); All of the bedrooms have Queen Size Beds and are upstairs. All of these bathrooms have state-of-the-art power showers and underfloor heating. The ground floor has a beautiful original oak kitchen, with double oven cooker, microwave, coffee maker, toaster, juicer, toaster and American style fridge-freezer which has an ice dispenser and chilled water supply. The kitchen has seating accommodating for up to 6 comfortably.
The original living room of the house has now got the original fireplace with charnwood wood burning stove built into it. It is furnished to a very high standard with reclining chairs and couches for comfort. This living room leads to a stunning dining area overlooking the Kenmare Bay and Caha mountains. There are double French doors which lead to a cobbled patio area with BBQ and natural stone surrounds around the house. The stairs lead from the living room to the first floor which has a stunning second seating area with patio doors and balcony overlooking the water and the beautiful Finnehy and Roughty river valleys.
Electricity for heating and lighting is an extra charge and is payable on departure. Electricity is based on the individual meter readings, the electricity is charged at 0.15 cent per unit and heating for oil is 0.65 cent per litre.
Maybury Cottage is a gem of a house as it is on thirty acres of land that borders the banks of the Finnehy River and Kenmare Bay. Yet it is only a ten minute walk along the Tubrid road into town - only 1 kilometer. The Tubrid road is a very popular walking route with locals as it is safe and secluded yet so convenient to Town. Richard and family are no strangers to the Bed & Breakfast and Cottage letting business. His mother Margaret started an Agri-Tourism business in Kenmare in 1967 and it has gone from strength to strength ever since....
