We will recommend you wholeheartedly

"Great cottage, everything you need is there. The location in the middle of Kenmare is great - just a short walk and you're right in town. There is everything you need here: supermarket, cafes, post office, bank, pubs and restaurants, liquor shop, clothing, artist and tourist shops. A nice little place to visit and see what's going on - but 1000 times better than totally overcrowded Killarney! Aoife looked after us very well on site and we had a completely relaxed week. Thank you very much, we will recommend you wholeheartedly!"

Best Ever

"My husband and I chose Kenmare as our base for a week of exploring the area. When we saw this cottage online and it said it was only a 5 minute walk to the town center, we were skeptical but it seemed perfect so we booked it. The cottage is as idyllic as it looks, giving the feeling of country life-and it is truly a 5 minute walk across the short, stone bridge to town. Our hostess, Aoife, met us at the square, jumped in the car and directed us around the corner to the cottage. She gave us all the information we needed to enjoy the cottage as well as some "start up" provisions that we would have had to go out to get that first day. Small grocery stores, butcher shops and bread stores are easily accessed across the bridge and a larger supermarket, Supervalu, is a 10-15 minute walk (5 minute drive). Restaurants and pubs are plentiful, the Wednesday market fun, and the people helpful and friendly to all our silly questions. Great base for driving the Ring of Beara and the Ring of Kerry as well as shorter trips to Sheen Falls, Sneem and Killarney. So many things to do and this cottage provides the absolute best place to start out from and return to. It is well-equipped if you want to cook in, and Aoife's mom, Maureen, has furnished it so that it is comfortable and pleasing to be in. Can't say enough good things-we loved it! Leah & Tim"

A cosy hideaway, minutes from the town centre

"My daughter and I cannot speak too highly of our week at Fado Cottage and the warm welcome from Aoife. Immaculate presentation with all the attention to detail that makes such a difference when travelling from overseas"

Idyllic stay

"We just wanted to let you know how much we enjoyed our stay at Fado Cottage and indeed Kenmare in general and to thank you for being so helpful and accommodating, especially in relation to our late arrival and early departure. We just loved staying at Fado. Its position on the edge of the town, surrounded by its own substantial garden, cannot be rivaled. To be lucky enough to stay in a cosy cottage which provides that sense of peace and tranquility one associates with rural Ireland whilst being literally minutes from the centre of Kenmare is something very special indeed. Our stay of one week just wasn't long enough and we were most reluctant to leave. There is so much to see and do in the area. The surrounding scenery is stunning, a walkers paradise (we conquered two substantial peaks in the Macgillycuddys but not, as YET, Carrauntoohil) and we loved the buzzing atmosphere of Kenmare town with its myriad of shops, cosy pubs, coffee shops and fine dining restaurants. We will most certainly return to Fado. In fact we already consider it our Special Little Place."

Perfect for a first family holiday

"We stayed in Fado Cottage (myself, my wife and my one year old daughter) for a week in June 15'. Wanted to stay in a cottage instead of the usual hotel holiday homes, we were not disappointed, first impressions were lasting impressions, we met the owners had a brief chat and they were helpful from the first minute offering advise on where to go, if we would require babysitting etc, then we went to the cottage, looks better in person than in the pictures (hard to believe) very warm and welcoming, spotless (clean) which was important to us with a one year old child. Location was perfect, 10 seconds walk to pub/shop/main street but far enough away from any street noise. Kitchen had everything, we used it a lot for meals. Fresh towels delivered. Overall the house was perfect for us as we used it as a base for day trips. Very big garden rnaround the house for kids to play etc and nice area to have bbq if wanted. Will definitely be returning soon."

Beautifully maintained cottage in the heart of Kenmare

"I can't say enough good things about this cottage. It is centrally located, less than a 5 minute walk from Kenmare's main street. It is well-situated with a large lawn out front, seating out back for al fresco dining - weather permitting! - and very peaceful with a cow in the field next door for a neighbour. The cottage itself is comfortable, spotlessly clean and well equipped with kitchen utensils, bathroom essentials and mod-cons such as a DVD player, widescreen TV, dishwasher, washing machine and dryer. We were so impressed with this cottage and loved our stay, we were sorry to say goodbye."

So good we came back again the following month!

"We stayed in Fado cottage on our week-long holiday in Kenmare in July 2013. The cottage is as beautiful and cosy as it looks in the photos. It is really well furnished throughout and has everything you might need. The owners have considered everything and it felt better equipped and stocked than our own home. We loved having breakfast at the big farmhouse table and relaxing in the welcoming recliner armchairs after a day hiking/cycling/touring. The cottage is on a nice large site so there is plenty of outside garden space to enjoy and garden furniture to lounge on, weather permitting! Fado cottage is very centrally located, a minute's stroll from the green in Kenmare and close to all shops, pubs and restaurants. So only a few steps for a coffee or a drink! The owners are lovely people and a pleasure to deal with. We enjoyed our stay so much that we booked in again for another week in August. Again, a beautiful holiday and we can't praise Fado highly enough, a real home from home."

A fantastic week in Kenmare

"My wife and I have just spent a fantastic week in Kenmare where we stayed at Fado cottage. Located just at the edge of town it is within easy walking distance of the many shops, pubs and restaurants that Kenmare has to offer. The cottage itself is charming and presented in excellent condition. It is clean, comfortable and had more than enough space for our needs. It would easily accommodate 4/5 people. The walled garden is private and is a good size and gives you a sense of being further away from the town than you actually are. Finally I would say that Aoife made us feel extremely welcome and was available to offer help and advice if any was needed. This is a good place to stay in a great location in South Kerry and I am sure that we will be back some time in the future."

Perfect

"Myself, my husband and two young children stayed in Fado Cottage for a week recently. The location of the cottage is very central, just round the corner from Kenmare's main street which has lots of beautiful shops and restaurants. You can also drive to most of the main attractions very easily. The cottage itself is full of character and spotlessly clean. The kitchen is well equipped with everything you'd need to cook your own meals. It had the perfect space we needed with two young children. The garden is huge and is completely enclosed which was a big weight off our minds with the kids. I would highly recommend this cottage and will definitely be back."

A wonderful stay in Kenmare

"We had a wonderful stay at Fado cottage in September 2012 when we went back after 6 years to get married in Kenmare. It was everything we remembered. Our hosts were so helpful and friendly. The cottage is wonderful so full of character and charm and with the town only a few minutes walk away from so many good places to eat. You could eat out in a different place every night! We will be back no doubt about it. I could go on all day about your lovely cottage and town! "
