Trick or treat....

It's that time of year again, love it or hate it! Are you one of those people who closes the blinds and turns off the lights sitting in the dark for the evening afraid to make a sound in case the little monsters hear you?!

Well I'm one of those people who embrace it! I love Halloween. I love the excitement in the kiddies faces as they go from door to door eagerly anticipating a friendly face on the other side...you offer them a treat in return for a trick (although for the little ones a party piece is so much cuter, a chorus of wee witches and gorgeous ghosts singing their favorite nursery rhyme).

And it seems over the years whole communities too are embracing this somewhat modern holiday and none more so than Kenmare in County Kerry, who, over the past number of years have put on an enormous effort into ensuring adults and children alike have a fantastically ghoulish night of fun and frolics. This year they have gone all out and organised a 5 day programme, aptly called “Halloween Howl” which offers something for everybody. From Humpty Dumpty's Duathlon and fancy dress after party (adults only), to the annual family fun filled fancy dress parade through the town, kiddies disco and everything in between including zombie photo booths, ghost trips on the bay, witches kitchen (who will be named Monster Chef), haunted house (catering for all ages), night time haunted forest walk, scary storytelling and a host of Club and Camp events to mention just a few. So this midterm break Kenmare is the place to be, where there are all sorts of scary things that are sure to have you go bump in the night….
