Fuchsia Lodge is a newly decorated holiday home just a five minute walk to Glandore Pier. It is slightly elevated from the road level so offers lovely sea views from almost all windows in the house.
The charming blue half-door front door brings you into the house with space to hang your coats on the way in. Through the utility brings you into the main open plan kitchen, living and dining area. There is a brand new washing machine and tumble dryer in the utility and all the appliances in the kitchen are also new including the oven, dishwasher, microwave, kettle and toaster. There is plenty of crockery, cutlery and glassware along with pots and pans and implements for cooking.
There is a round dining table to seat up to six people which offers a lovely sea view. The living room is really bright with a rocking chair and table by the bay window – perfect for reading the paper, looking out at the sea and enjoying your morning coffee. The couch is plenty big for up to four people and there is also an armchair in front of the wood burning stove. The TV is brand new and is Sky Glass! Wifi is available free of charge to our guests and there is also 5G available.
The three bedrooms are upstairs and in the landing is another comfy chair to escape to with a good book with great views towards the sea. On the first floor is the master bedroom with a super-king bed. It is ensuite and has plenty of storage space. The twin bedroom on this floor is also ensuite with shower. The third bedroom is up another few stairs and we call it the Attic room. Once you go up the stairs you are right into the room as it has no door. It has two single beds and is ensuite – this one with a bath rather than a shower.
While there is no garden at Fuchsia Lodge, there is a patio with patio furniture so you can sit outside and enjoy the wonderful views to the front overlooking Glandore bay. There is a little beach within a minute’s walk of the house to swim at, and Glandore pier is just a five minute walk away. There is parking at the house for just one car, but you can park any additional cars on the road outside.
For families with young children it is important to note that the house is beside the road and there is no gate so care must be taken to supervise them.
Glandore is a tiny village located in the heart of West Cork, just an hour’s drive from Cork International Airport (approximately a 5 hour drive from Dublin). It is acclaimed as one of the prettiest villages in Ireland. The literal translation of Glandore is Harbour of Oaks.
Due to its location right on the water and overlooking Glandore Harbour, the village is a very popular spot during the summer months for water sports enthusiasts. The Gulf Stream passes close to Glandore ensuring a mild climate all year round along with some very interesting and unusual plants and flowers.
It is unusual that Glandore Village does not have a shop (the closest is Centra in Union Hall) however it does offer some excellent restaurants and bars.
The busy fishing port of Union Hall is just 1.5km across the water from Glandore and is linked by a fascinating bridge. The bustling town of Skibbereen is just 5 miles away.
